Project Summary

Raise welders’ and their employers’ awareness, not only of the new CrVI standard, but also about which welding processes are likely to result in exposures exceeding the CrVI PEL or action level.  Provide best practices training for welders on the use of local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems and other controls to reduce CrVI exposures using industry relevant training methods.  Improve understanding among welders regarding the effective use of LEV, and reduce exposures to CrVI.
