Developing Effective Health and Safety Committees for High Risk Small Businesses

Project Summary

This project will partner with 9 small businesses (<100 emp.) in the primary metals and metal products manufacturing industries to test the effectiveness of 3 levels of intervention to make labor/management health and safety committees (HSC) more effective in preventing exposures, illness and injury at work. The interventions will be; a) information only, b) committee activities. At each facility health and safety conditions and management support for committee goals will be measured before and after the intervention delivery. The final product will be a manual for WA State business on how to improve effectiveness of their joint committee.

Amount Awarded: $250,000.00.
